Like everything she does, Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime performance was both celebrated and criticized. Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of the national anthem, on the other hand, was universally praised — the same week her single “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” knocked Adele out of the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 100 chart and held Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin”, at #3. Also in the football spirit, Lady Gaga posed topless with a pigskin before unleashing the tour poster, stage design and first few tour dates for her upcoming Born This Way Ball.  We bring to you the first trailer of ‘Housefull 2’. In the promo, Akshay Kumar is paired up with Asin, John with Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade with Shazahn Padamsee and Ritesh Deshmukh with Zarine Khan. While Akki is a khurrat guy, John Abraha is a handsome chor. Shreyas is a ghar jamaai and Ritesh is just not into marriage. Housefull 2 also sees the veterans Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Boman Irani as the four sasurs. The trailer surely is rib tickling, filled with comedy and confusion. Directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 2 releases on 5 April. |

Latvala thrives as Loeb loses hopeFord’s Jari-Matti Latvala was rewarded for his careful approach to tyre conservation as he opened up a 16.8 second lead after the opening day of Rally Sweden. World champion Sebastien Loeb’s hopes of victory were effectively ended on Friday. Finn Latvala ran near the front throughout the day, and enjoyed a fine battle for the lead with former team-mate and current Citroen driver Mikko Hirvonen during the morning loop of stages. Hirvonen, who has won the last two editions of the Karlstad-based event, led at the day’s halfway point but paid the price for pushing hard on the afternoon run through the stages, with the low levels of snow and ice causing huge problems for the studded Michelin tyres. Latvala, having looked after his rubber, snuck back in front on stage eight before producing an excellent performance on stage nine to beat Hirvonen by 14.6 seconds and open up an advantage of more than 17 seconds, which was trimmed slightly after the short superspecial stage at the close of the day. By this stage Loeb was languishing in seventh place. The Frenchman had been running around the fringes of the top three and appeared to be finding his feet when he set the fastest time on the stage immediately after the mid-day break, but his Citroen DS3 WRC struck a snow bank just two corners into stage seven and he lost over two minutes to fall back down the field. His misfortune left factory Ford driver Petter Solberg and Adapta Ford’s Mads Ostberg battling for third, with Solberg taking the honours with a strong afternoon run, having lost time with a spin this morning. And such were Hirvonen’s struggles late in the day, Solberg now stands just 1.8 seconds behind the man he replaced in the Blue Oval team to raise the prospect of a potential Ford one-two finish. But the day belonged to Latvala, who was delighted to see his patient approach pay off. “My start position strategy paid off and it was an excellent day,” he said. “I made a few small mistakes this morning which cost me the lead and the car oversteered a little, but that improved as the day continued. I knew I was losing time to Petter in the penultimate stage because my studs were more worn, but I remained calm and it turned out that other drivers were losing even more. “Today was the hardest for the tyres but the grip remained good this afternoon. I must keep pushing tomorrow and it’s important to stay focused. Keeping clear of the snow banks will be key because it’s all too easy to be dragged into the soft snow and become stuck.” Evegny Novikov and Henning Solberg were next up in fifth and sixth with the recovering Loeb having hauled himself ahead of the Prodrive Mini of home favourite Patrik Sandell, whose team-mate Dani Sordo was struck by technical problems. The top 10 was rounded out by the privateer Ford Fiestas of Martin Prokop and Eyvind Brinildsen. |

 After his much-acclaimed film 3 Idiots which also turned out to be Indian cinema’s biggest blockbuster, the news was abuzz that the director Rajkumar Hirani will go back to his Munna Bhai days and is thinking of directing the next Munna Bhai film. But as per reports, it’s not Munna Bhai 3, but a film with Aamir Khan that will keep Hirani busy. So Raju Hirani, as he is popularly called, is reportedly finishing a project called PK which stars Aamir Khan in the lead. As the abbreviation sounds, the film is about a social crusader who remains sloshed. The character is shown in a tipsy state throughout the film, and Aamir Khan, considering how perfect he is, has not hit the bottle (as he doesn’t drink), but has started getting a hang of slurring and stumbling that is needed to play a drunken hero. But both the director and the actor are now not so pleased with the movie’s title PK. The title sounded “ambiguous” to them, and wasn’t able to convey what the film was all about. So both Hirani and Aamir decided that the title should be changed for good and thought of renaming it ‘Talli’. However, to name their film Talli is not easy. The problem with changing the title is that the rights of the title Talli lies with the filmmaker Ken Ghosh and it depends on him whether he is willing to part with it. When Ken Ghosh was asked about it, he only said, Hirani just has to ask for it. It’s also not known whether Talli will release before Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 or after it. Meanwhile, Hirani’s associate and writer Abhijat Joshi will take forward the Munna Bhai franchise with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. |

Mancini unconcerned by City away woesManchester City manager Roberto Mancini has played down concerns about his team’s away form ahead of Sunday’s game at Aston Villa. The Barclays Premier League leaders will look to arrest a disappointing sequence of results away from the Etihad Stadium with victory at Villa Park this weekend, having won just one of their last six away games. However, Mancini is adamant the problem is only short-term. “We knew it was impossible to score three goals in every away game,” he said. “Sometimes you can lose these games. “But we didn’t deserve to lose any of these games. At Sunderland we had 70% possession and lost to an offside goal in injury time. “At Everton we had 70% of the ball and had all the shots. At Chelsea it was the same.” City will be coming up against three old boys in Richard Dunne, Stephen Ireland and Shay Given – the last two of whom Mancini was responsible for selling. The Blues boss was anxious not to make a big thing of that, though. “This is Manchester City against Aston Villa, not Dunne, Ireland and Given,” said Mancini, who confirmed Yaya and Kolo Toure will return to the club immediately after Sunday’s African Nations Cup final, when Ivory Coast take on Zambia. |
