 Bollywood is all set to ring in its first blockbuster of the year. Yes, Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Agneepath’ has taken the Box Office by storm. Apprently, ‘Agneepath’ has broken Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ record by making Rs 25 crore on the first day of its release. Priyanka Chopra recently tweeted, “Yay thank u everyone! #agneepath day one 25cr ! Unprecedented! Feels sooo awesome! Team agneepath u rock!(sic)” Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult film by the same name, where Big B essayed the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. In Karan’s remake, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) takes on drug lord Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) to avenge the death of his father and restore his family honour. Talking to a daily about the instant success of ‘Agneepath,’ trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “‘Agneepath’ opening: Not just Hrithik’s biggest opener, but also amongst the biggest opener of all times. It should have a record Day 1 collection.” “The audience response to the film has been extraordinary, we are now hopeful that this film will compensate for the losses we incurred in the first three weeks,” said an exhibitioner. Buzz had it that the first day collections of ‘Agneepath’ will touch anywhere around Rs 20 crore. “The film’s first day collection could easily be between 19-20 crores. True to its title, ‘Agneepath’ has taken a fiery start. It is a superb Republic Day gift by Karan Johar to the public!” said trade analyst Komal Nahata. Well, it seems we have a clear winner here! |

 Luke Kenny Producing a Movie About Zombies Bollywood seems to be fascinated with Zombies currently. After Saif Ali Khan announced a zombie-thriller Go Goa Gone and Abhay Deol showed an active interest in the Zombie comedy Rock The Shaadi, it’s Luke Kenny’s turn to take it forward. The Rock On star Luke is producing and acting in a film called Zombie. This will be the first film on the origin and making of a zombie in the world. Luke and his partner Devaki Singh are huge zombie films’ fans and consider themselves to be experts in that genre. When contacted, the producer Luke Kenny told Mumbai Mirror, “This film is a Zombie Origin film. Not a zombie comedy, not a zombie survival film. Indian audiences will empathise with the journey of a human being as he is faced with a seemingly insurmountable predicament. Indian and international audiences as will learn the humanity behind the Zombie Origin Saga which is what I along with my partner Devaki Singh are looking to present. This is a first of the many unique stories Kenny Films Pvt Ltd is looking to present to cinema audiences.” The technical team of Rock On has been roped in for the project. And interestingly, even before the first film’s release, Luke has already made plans for its sequel called War Of the Zombie next year.  |

“Great dude, just a little bad luck. @CoryGunz is holding strong and will be out shortly. Family is here if and when anything is needed,” was Nick Cannon’s tweet from today regarding the incident. That bad luck may extend to a very serious stint behind bars. “At the end of the day, there’s a reason for everything, but at the same time, in New York, it’s mandatory jail time,” Gunz’s father told MTV. “To go to a precinct and see your son, your junior, in handcuffs, it’s heartbreaking. Anytime you see your child in jail, in the cell, in handcuffs, it’s very hard. He’s walked down some of the same paths that I walked down, but you never want to see your kids go through what you went through.” |

Mainz 3-1 FreiburgMainz scored three times in a stunning opening 17-minute spell as they brought to an end their five-match winless streak in the Bundesliga with victory over 10-man Freiburg. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting put the home side ahead in the third minute and three minutes later Eugen Polanski doubled Mainz’s lead from the penalty spot in an incident that also saw Freiburg defender Fallou Diagne was sent off. Choupo-Moting netted his second and Mainz’s third 11 minutes later as the hosts looked on course to record a huge win, but they were unable to add to the scoreline after that and bottom club Freiburg managed to pull a goal back through Pavel Krmas in the 68th minute. Nevertheless, the result saw Mainz pick up their first league triumph since their shock win over Bayern Munich back in November. Mainz could hardly have dreamed of a better start as they had the points all but wrapped with only a quarter of the match gone. They took the lead when Elkin Soto claimed possession in midfield before passing forward to Polanski, whose through-ball found Choupo-Moting for an easy finish from 14 yards out. Mainz were then awarded penalty moments later as Diagne took down Adam Szalai in the area and was shown a red card. Polanski stepped up to the spot and put Mainz further ahead with a shot into the right corner. Choupo-Moting struck a second time in the 17th minute, running onto a pass by Marco Caligiuri and beating Freiburg keeper Oliver Baumann to the far left corner. With the points virtually secured, Mainz did not push forward much thereafter as Freiburg looked to mainly avoid conceding more goals. The visitors finally had a good chance in the 68th minute and took advantage of it with Krmas slotting in Michael Lumb’s corner. Freiburg’s goal woke up Mainz, but Baumann turned over Nicolai Muller’s long-range effort in the 70th minute and Choupo-Moting shot wide right three minutes later as the match finished 3-1. |

Well, at least no one can accuse him of not living up to his name. “6 Foot 7 Foot” rapper Cory Gunz has been arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in New York City. The Young Money rapper was found in his native Bronx with the weapon in his knapsack in what his father Peter Gunz (also a rapper, featured on MTV’s Son Of A Gun with Cory) told MTV was “definitely an illegal search.” Though this is Cory’s first arrest, it looks like the 24-year-old may well be facing some serious jail time, as there is a mandatory prison sentence for this offense in New York City.
