Bollywood In Anticipation For Rohit Dhawan and Jaanvi Desai Wedding

After Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza get married on February 3, 2012's next big wedding will be Desi Boyz director Rohit (son of David Dhawan) to Jaanvi Desai, his girfriend of seven years. David's wife Lally has already sent out e-invites asking people to block their dates from February 10-12 (the wedding will take place in Goa).

Says a source, "Rohit got engaged to Jaanvi (fashion merchandiser) last year. They have been dating for over seven years. There will be a mehndi, sangeet and wedding followed by a reception — all held in Goa. While David is in Goa shooting for Chashme Buddoor he's also coordinating the wedding arrangements with Lally in Mumbai. It was Rohit's choice to have a wedding in Goa. He wanted to have a simple court wedding and keep it intimate and small but his parents and brother (Varun who makes his acting debut in Karan Johar's next), know people in the film industry and they requested him to have a proper Punjabi wedding."

The guest list is impressive: Shah Rukh, Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Govinda and John Abraham. All of David's heroes, heroines and producers including Sanjay and Maanayata Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Krishika and Sunil Lulla, Sajid and Wardha Nadiadwala, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Chitrangda Singh and Deepika Padukone have been invited too. "Rohit has invited his close friends from the industry whom he has grown up with like Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Ravi Chopra's sons Abhay and Kapil and people who matter to him. His close friends who studied with him in New York University are also flying down for the wedding. Says Rohit, "I'm happy I am getting married to the girl I have been going around with for the last seven years. I hope marriage makes me a better filmmaker. I just turned 28 and everything is moving so fast!"

lara hesh4 Lara Dutta gives birth to a baby girl.....
Actress Lara Dutta and tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi became proud parents of a daughter here Friday afternoon.

Mahesh copied Abhishek Bachchan’s style of announcing his fatherhood, to break the news on his Twitter page.

“ITS A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @DuttaLara. I Love u….,” Mahesh tweeted a la Abhishek, who was blessed with a little angel in November last year.

The mother and child are healthy and fine, said a source close to the actress.

The 33-year-old former beauty queen married Mahesh in February last year. In August 2011, Lara confirmed she is pregnant with their first child.

Before going into labour, she made her last public appearance at a party Monday organised in honour of international talk show queen Oprah Winfrey at Parmeshwar Godrej’s residence here.

An excited Lara, after meeting Winfrey and her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan Monday night, had then tweeted: “@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thank you for making my day! Now can go into labour happily!”

Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem” & “This Is What Makes Us Girls”: Album Versions

Posted: 20 Jan 2012 08:20 AM PST

Lana Del Rey bicylce Lana Del Rey's Turns out those clips of Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die tracks “National Anthem” and “This Is What Makes Us Girls” that surfaced two weeks ago really were demos. Snippets of the album versions of the two songs have now been added to the divisive singer’s YouTube channel, and you can compare them with what we’ve heard before below.

The funky bass and hip hop drum sample present on the “National Anthem” demo is swapped out here on the final version for a much more subtle beat. Also missing on this recording: the punch that the chorus had in the demo. Lana’s vocals seem to have more of an underwater (and understated) effect. Boo to that.

Lana Del Rey — ”National Anthem”

The new “This Is What Makes Us Girls” also has a slower beat than the demo, but the vocals here appear to be more fine-tuned, while an orchestral layer and some sampled effects have been added.

Lana Del Rey — “This Is What Makes Us Girls”

Based on just these short clips, we say thumbs up to “This Is What Makes Us Girls”. As for “National Anthem”, however, we prefer the original.

How do you think of the final album versions of “National Anthem” and “This Is What Makes Us Girls” compare to the demos we heard a couple weeks back?

Farhan Akhtar Talks About Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Farhan Akhtar Talks About Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Farhan Akhtar has not only begun to grow his hair and beard to be ready to play a Sardar, he has also changed his lifestyle completely. On a breathless note, he is running for his life. Every morning he is up before his children, to put in those extra hours of practice for his role as Milkha Singh.

Says Farhan, "Yes, there is radical change in my lifestyle. I've a training session every morning from 6.45 am to 8 am. I wrap up my athletic activities by 9 in the morning. In any case, the film industry is not awake before 9 am. And yeah, late nights are being avoided. Even after the Tom Cruise party, I was home by midnight."
Playing the Olympian sprinter Milkha Singh is proving to be a far bigger challenge for Farhan Akhtar than he had bargained for. Farhan is being trained to run like a professional sprinter.

Says the director-turned-actor, "At the moment it's just a morning session. I am being trained by a gentleman named Melvin who trains Central Railways athletes. But as we get closer to the shooting there would also have to be an evening session with an Olympian trainer."

Farhan says his whole physical language is undergoing a change with the sprinter's training. "It's a whole new world. Running to be a professional athlete is very different from just plain running. It's like a whole other science I am learning. But my trainer is happy with the progress. Pleasing him has become a benchmark for my progress as a runner."

Farhan says the morning running regime has transformed his entire lifestyle. "After running in the morning I feel a lot fitter. I am all charged up, raring to go each morning. A month ago when I was skipping gym to edit Don 2, I felt sluggish. That heavy feeling is gone."

As for the change in diet, Farhan shrugs, "I am avoiding food that I was in any case not too fond of. I do have a relatively athletic frame."

Farhan says when director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra approached him with the role of Milkha Singh, Farhan was enthused. "I saw it as one more bracing challenge as an actor. I did read Rakeysh comparing me with Balraj Sahni. I don't know what prompted the comparison. But recently, I read an interview of Balraj Sahni where he said he often questioned his choice of profession as an actor since being an actor one had to be an extrovert. Like him, I too am an introvert."

Farhan met Milkha Singh briefly. "That was very rushed. Now I hope to meet him in leisure. But I am not going to imitate his personality. I'd rather like to adopt his philosophy. Trying to replicate his speech and mannerisms would make the role restrictive and rehearsed. It's important for me to understand his take on life and sports. Everything will flow smoothly from there."

Farhan is also growing his hair and beard to play Milkha. "I couldn't possibly fake that Sardar look. So yeah I'm going to keep growing my beard and hair until March when we start shooting."
Farhan would be the next Sardar hero after Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, and the first non-Punjabi Sardar.

"Is that an achievement?" wonders the bemused Sardar-to-be, who will also have to learn how to tie the turban. "I am playing someone who is iconic. I can't afford to get it wrong. But the role's authenticity is what makes it exciting for me. If I can pick roles that can surprise me and the audience, I've achieved what I set out to as an actor."
