A new poster has been released for upcoming CIA thriller Safe House, and from the looks of it, co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington appear to have the mean and moody routine down pat.

The new monochrome poster is a fairly one-paced affair, with Reynolds adopting the traditional action-thriller pose of staring into the middle distance, while Washington does his level best to stare straight into your brain.

Set in South Africa, the film will see Washington play a renegade CIA operative being held in a safe house by Ryan Reynolds’ inexperienced agent. When a team of bloodthirsty mercenaries storm the location, Reynolds must put his trust in this most slippery of characters in order to ensure they both escape with their lives.

Not exactly a novel plot then, but one with plenty of scope for some meaty action. And if Training Day was anything to go by, we do enjoy it when Denzel Washington taps into his dark side.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa and co-starring Robert Patrick, Brendan Gleeson and Vera Farmiga, Safe House will open in the UK on 24 February 2012.

De Jong looking forward to Reds test

De Jong looking forward to Reds test

Midfielder Nigel de Jong expects Manchester City to pull together to get their title charge back on track.

The Barclays Premier League leaders have stuttered since Christmas, suffering a shock 1-0 loss at Sunderland after a frustrating goalless draw at West Brom.

City still top the table from Manchester United on goal difference but face another tough test as Liverpool visit the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

De Jong told City TV: “We win with each other, we lose with each other.

“We have to take this one on board, discuss it and see what went wrong and just go on to the next game.”

That City have failed to score in their last two games comes as a surprise after they hit the net 53 times in their previous 17 games.

Roberto Mancini’s men had spells of dominance at The Hawthorns on Boxing Day and the Stadium of Light on New Year’s Day but they found both opponents in resolute mood.

De Jong added: “In most of our games we have dominated possession.

“That doesn’t say anything if you don’t score a goal. Then you can’t win, obviously.”

De Jong himself made his first start for City since November in the last-gasp defeat to the Black Cats.

The 27-year-old Holland international was a key member of last season’s FA Cup-winning side but has fallen down the pecking order since a spell out in August and September with a foot injury.

Mancini accepts he may be frustrated with the situation but the City boss insists the tough-tackling World Cup finalist remains an important member of his squad.

The Italian said: “Nigel had too many problems when we started the season, two months off for injury.

“After this the squad played a different system with two strikers, two offensive players like wingers and only two midfielders.

“For this reason Nigel did not play a lot of games but he is still an important player. There is no change in this situation. Now he can play.

“I think it is normal that one player, when he doesn’t play, is frustrated.

“For him it is difficult but now we are playing five games in 16 days and we need our players.”

Aston Villa 0-2 Swansea

 Aston Villa 0 2 Swansea

Aston Villa 0-2 Swansea

Swansea deservedly claimed their first away win in the Barclays Premier League as Aston Villa’s troubles at home continued.

The Welsh side went ahead in the fourth minute when Stephen Warnock got in a mix-up and gave the ball straight to Nathan Dyer, who took it on before firing past Brad Guzan.

Wayne Routledge then made it 2-0 shortly after half-time, pouncing when Danny Graham hit the post, to seal a maiden victory on the road for the Swans since their promotion to the top flight last summer and condemn their opponents to a fourth successive defeat at Villa Park.

The result brought Alex McLeish’s team crashing back down to earth after their shock 3-1 win at Chelsea on New Year’s Eve and sees them slip to 12th in the table, overtaken by Swansea, who are up to 11th after building on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham with another impressive performance.

As anticipated, Swans boss Brendan Rodgers refreshed his side again by making a host of adjustments from the Spurs game, restoring the likes of Graham, Leon Britton and Angel Rangel to the starting line-up.

Villa’s record signing Darren Bent, who had come off the bench to score against Chelsea after missing three matches with a thigh problem, came in for Marc Albrighton in what was the only change for the midlanders.

Having finished 2011 on such a high, Villa made a terrible start to the new year as Swansea snatched an early lead following a blunder by Warnock.

The defender needlessly lost possession in his own half and Dyer took full advantage, collecting the loose ball, driving into the box and firing a shot into the corner of the net.

The hosts looked to make a quick response, but Gabriel Agbonlahor appeared to be put off by his team-mate Bent as he headed Charles N’Zogbia’s cross wide, and Swansea then went close to doubling their advantage, Andrea Orlandi given the space to advance before flashing a strike across Guzan’s goal.

Stephen Ireland saw an effort deflected behind and James Collins a header saved as Villa attempted to get back on level terms, but a cross-cum-shot from Dyer in between issued another warning at the other end.

Warnock suffered more embarrassment just before the half hour mark as he was left for dead by Dyer, whose cut-back was met by Graham to bring a stop out of Guzan.

N’Zogbia blazed a free-kick over the bar and Swansea were soon breaking forward again, this time Orlandi teeing up Graham, who sent his shot just wide.

Villa struggled to muster much in way of reply and were grateful that the damage was not greater by the time the interval came.

Within just two minutes of the restart, though, the hosts had fallen further behind, with another error on their part playing a role.

Guzan sent his goal-kick to a white shirt and the ball came to former Villa man Routledge, who burst forward, laid on a pass for Graham and then reacted swiftly when the striker hit the post, tucking away the rebound to register his first goal for Swansea.

There was no let-up, with Orlandi almost slipping in Graham, and Richard Dunne summed up Villa’s frustrations when he shoved over Dyer, picking up a booking in the process.

After N’Zogbia’s shot was blocked and Dunne headed over, it was then the Villa fans who vented their anger, making their displeasure known at McLeish’s decision to substitute Ireland for Albrighton.

Ciaran Clark tried to turn and shoot in the Swansea box, but the ball was taken away from him before he could pull the trigger.

The visitors continued to threaten, with Dunne doing just enough to ensure Graham’s shot could not trouble Guzan and the goalkeeper then managing to stop Joe Allen squeezing through.

N’Zogbia nearly pulled one back at the death, but his shot hit the goal frame and the boos rang out around the ground from Villa fans at the final whistle as another home loss was confirmed.

Mallika Sherawat to Sing in Lucky Unlucky

Mallika Sherawat's comeback film Lucky Unlucky directed by Afzal Rizvi has thrown yet another challenge at the actress. After making her slip into the role of an athlete, he now demands Mallika to exercise her vocal cords as well.

Mumbai Mirror learnt that the actress would now be singing with her co-actor Sonu Sood for a specially composed track in the film.

Composed by Santokh Singh, this song will have Mallika crooning in her native language Haryanvi.
In fact, Santokh Singh has been reportedly, asked to compose the music for the very track in a way that does justice to the untrained voices of both Mallika and Sonu.

When asked about the singing plans, Sonu said , "We are planning something. But if I reveal our music plans now what would be the USP later? We are planning a song that would incorporate sounds from across the country. There will be songs in Punjabi, Haryanvi, Telugu, Tamil and Marathi."

Since Sonu has worked in Hindi, Punjabi , Tamil and Telugu films, the task of finding the correct music has been assigned to him. "We're looking at both film and folk songs from these regions. Lucky Unlucky is a road movie that takes Mallika and me across the country. The music will be in the languages of the cities that we visit."
