Singapore Police Force is investigating blogger and chief editor of New Asia Republic, Donaldson Tan for re-posting an extremely offensive picture to Muslims; one of a prohibited animal in Islam, superimposed on the Ka’ba – Islam’s most sacred site, on his Facebook. In his report to the police, the complainant, Amran Junid, also highlighted a Serena Lee for posting racist comments on that FB post by Donaldson Tan. Mr Tan was formerly an editor with TOC. He was asked to leave TOC in January 2010, and he subsequently set-up New Asia Republic – a commentary website. This is the third police report made within the last five days about people who have disregarded religious sensitivities. The other two police reports were lodged against Mr Jason Neo and Mr Christian Eliab Ratnam. Liang ready for Chinese missionChina’s Liang Wen-chong believes that China will become a dominant force in golf once they get more opportunities to compete against the world’s best players. The Omega Mission Hills World Cup, which tees off at the Mission Hills Resort in Hainan Island on Thursday, is an ideal platform for Liang and his debutant partner Zhang Xin-jun to showcase the standards of golf in China to the world. Liang, who won the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2007, will be making his fifth World Cup appearance and is hoping to use his wealth of experience to guide Zhang in his maiden World Cup appearance and ultimately, achieve some measure of success this week. “It’s good that we can stage world-class tournaments like this in China as it helps with the development of golf here. Of course, getting a good result, which we always plan to do, will help to raise the profile of the sport,” said Liang. Although Zhang will be making his World Cup debut, Liang is confident that his younger playing partner will be able to carry the hopes of the nation. “I’ve every confidence in this young man as he has shown that he is capable of matching up against the best,” said Liang. Zhang served notice of his potential when he emerged as the best Asian player with a tied-13th finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions earlier this month. While the 24-year-old is excited with the prospect of playing in his first World Cup, he is also aware of the pressure especially with China as the host nation and is counting on ‘Big brother’ Liang to support him. “Liang is like a big brother to me and I know that he’ll always be there to support me as my career progresses,” said Zhang. “Likewise for this week, I’m going to do my best and in a team event like this, I’ll be looking up to him for support as we compete against the best players in the world,” added the Chinese. Meanwhile the United States represented by Matt Kucher and Gary Woodland will be hoping to add to their country’s record 23 wins in the biennial event which remains as the only team event in the men’s professional game. Kuchar, who was on the victorious U.S. Presidents Cup team last week, hopes to extend his winning run for the Stars and Stripes with Woodland. “Playing in The Presidents Cup was an amazing experience. Anytime you can represent your home country is fantastic, and now for me, having this opportunity for two straight weeks is really cool,” said Kucher, who has won three times on the PGA Tour. Title favourites Ireland will be represented by Major winners Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell while South Africa are also expected to mount a strong challenge with their pairing of Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel and 2010 British Open winner, Louis Oosthuizen. The 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup will feature 28 nations vying for the US.5 million prize fund. |

Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo directors of brutal slasher Inside, have revealed a French-Language trailer for their new film, Livid. Dimension Films are backing the new ‘horror fairytale’, which is set for theatrical release next year. Livid is set on Halloween night, where three unaware youths break into a desolate house in the search for an old woman’s treasure. “At night, they get into the house, which reveals itself to be increasingly peculiar. Their hunt for Mrs Jessel’s treasure leads them into a horrifying supernatural series of events that will change Lucy forever…" The project will also see the return of Inside actress, Beatrice Dalle. Other billed cast include Jeremy Kapone, Catherine Jacob, Felix Moati and Chloe Coulloud. The Germans secured top spot in Group A with a 3-1 win over Villarreal, Inter did likewise in Group B with a draw at Trabzonspor, while Benfica’s draw with Manchester United meant they too progress to the last 16. Franck Ribery scored twice for Bayern, either side of a Mario Gomez effort, as Jonathan De Guzman netted Villarreal’s consolation. Napoli jumped ahead of opponents Manchester City into second place in Group A with a 2-1 win in Naples thanks to Edinson Cavani’s double. City, for whom Mario Balotelli had levelled at 1-1, will now host Bayern in two weeks needing a win while Napoli travel to pointless Villarreal, where victory for the Italians would ensure their progression regardless of City’s result. Roman Coppola, son of the legendary Francis Ford Coppola, has written the screenplay and will also direct. An eclectic cast has already been announced: Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza and tiger blood himself Charlie Sheen, who is set to make a career comeback in the film, have all been announced. Now Murray has been added, as well as Final Destination 3 star Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The full title of the picture is A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III. The synopsis reads below… “Sheen stars as the title character, a successful graphic designer whose fame, money and charm have made him irresistible to women.” “When his girlfriend breaks up with him, his life swirls into a downward spiral of doubt, confusion and reflection.” “Through delirious fantasies involving his many failed romances, he begins the hard road of self-evaluation to come to terms with life without her.” Sounds like a testing role for Charlie Sheen, who is almost completely foreign to fame, money, women and downward spirals.
