The 34-year-old middle-order batsman hit a half century in his team’s 26-run defeat in the fourth match in Sharjah on Sunday, but played in some discomfort and has now been ruled out of the remainder of the tour due to a knee injury. Sri Lanka currently trail Pakistan 3-1 with two ODIs remaining, however team manager Anura Tennekoon confirmed Jayawardene’s absence on Tuesday as the right-hander aims to regain fitness ahead of next month’s tour of South Africa. “After Sunday’s game Mahela’s injury got worse so he has returned home,” Tennekoon told a news agency. “Chamara Silva was brought in as cover.” Pakistan hold an unassailable lead in the one-day series with the fifth and final match to be played at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. |

| Logan’s Run gets new screenwriter Posted: 21 Nov 2011 06:49 PM PST  Today it was announced that Logan’s Run, which is set to begin filming next year, has hired a new writer. Andrew Baldwin, who penned 2008 Black List script The West Is Dead, has been brought onto the project to redraft the current script. Ryan Gosling has already been confirmed to play Michael York’s character Logan. Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn will occupy the director’s chair. The pair previously collaborated on hit pulp-thriller Drive, and are set to work together again on Bangkok Thai-boxing drama Only God Forgives. Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and Will Beall (Gangster Squad) have both already contributed to the current script.  Salman Khan and film remakes go hand in hand. And Tollywood seems to be the target. The latest we hear is that, the rights of a Telugu film Arya 2, has been purchased by UTV Motion Pictures and Salman Khan has been approached to essay the lead role. “UTV has bought the rights of the film recently and they will be approaching Salman to play the lead role very soon because according to them, he really suits the character. Others, who will be approached for the film is not confirmed as of now,” says a source. Director Sukumar, who directed the original Telugu flick, will be directing the Hindi version too. |

Sunny Deol's attempt to break his 'dhai kilo ka haath' image is in trouble. The star was greatly excited to essay the role of a dhoti-clad Sanskrit teacher in Mohalla Assi. Though the film was shot earlier in the year, it has yet to see light of day. Says a source, "The film is stuck in the post-production stage. There have been several issues including financial that that have bogged the project. The names associated with it have not been able to reach a consensus about its fate. As a result it lies stuck in the cans." Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the movie is based on the Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi penned by Kashinath Singh and is about a mohalla in Varanasi on the banks of the river Ganga. As the audience associates Sunny with his Punjabi drawl, the star had taken a keen interest to get the nuances of Sanskrit right for the dialogue.
